Location: This position is based on the Louisiana Department of Public Health in the Bureau of Health Informatics in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Responsibilities
- Helping to put tracking and surveillance technologies into place;
- Properly and completely utilizing the concepts of epidemiology, biostatistics, and public health to examine, evaluate, and distribute data from diverse data sources;
- Supporting the methods and analysis used in data collection activities;
- Aiding in the composition of annual and progress reports;
- Preparing reports and data visualizations on epidemiological results and data that are available for elected officials, advocacy groups, advisory councils, service providers, and other information-requesting groups;
- Working together to identify new data sources to improve opioid surveillance with other LDH agencies and non-LDH agencies;
- Using a project management platform to monitor deadline observance and timely delivery of project needs.
Skills Required
SQL database operations, R Studio, Python, SAS, or Tableau. Prior to an interview, candidates will be asked to submit examples of proficiency with at least one statistical software.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A master’s degree in epidemiology plus one year of professional-level experience in epidemiology
